Influence, Immersion, Integration, and Ownership: What’s Moving In Our Industry

By Max Fellows, Founder of allpoints

The UK’s marketing, communications, and live events sectors are entering a new chapter; one defined less by agency scale alone and more by the structural and philosophical choices shaping that scale. In a landscape increasingly influenced by platform-native creativity, global content demands, AI-fuelled production, and talent retention pressures, the latest wave of mergers, acquisitions, and employee ownership transitions signals a strategic recalibration of what it means to be future-ready.

In the past few months, we’ve seen everything from AI-enhanced production roll-ups and end-to-end engagement mergers to EOT transitions designed to secure creative integrity and cultural longevity. These are connected signals pointing to a deeper transformation in how agencies position themselves for relevance, resilience, and responsible growth.

Whether it’s MSQ investing in scalable, AI-powered content delivery, MCI Group folding strategy and delivery into one unified client experience, TAIT reinforcing its live production dominance through technical staging integration, or agencies like RPM and Brandnation embedding purpose into their ownership models, the industry is leaning into ecosystem thinking: building businesses not just for output, but for alignment, sustainability and differentiated value.

Below, we explore the most notable deals and transitions, and what they reveal about the evolving foundations of agency success.

MSQ / M3 Labs acquires PRECIOUS Media and Wooshii

Article content

MSQ’s in‑house production division, M3 Labs, has acquired two London agencies: PRECIOUS Media, a commerce‑connected consultancy working with Diageo and Unilever; and Wooshii, a video production platform powered by AI and a creator network spanning 132 countries. PRECIOUS will be subsumed under M3 while retaining its brand identity; Wooshii’s production activities integrate into M3, while its AI tools remain independent.

What it signals: Agencies are building content engines that combine creative, AI, and commerce strategy to deliver seamless global-scale content fast. Integration across those domains is now strategic, not incidental.

MCI UK merges with Pure Communications Group

Article content

July 2025, MCI UK, part of the global MCI Group, merged with London‑based Pure Communications Group, creating a 60‑strong national team operating across London and Liverpool. The combined business now delivers end‑to‑end engagement services, including strategy, creative content, events, community management, video, and internal communications, across regulated sectors such as financial services and technology. What it signals: Scalability and local agility can coexist. MCI is positioning itself as a consultative full‑service agency tailored for complex, professional markets.

TAIT acquires Gallagher Staging and Productions

Article content

Global live‑events staging specialist TAIT acquired Gallagher Staging and Productions, a custom set fabricator with four locations across North America. Gallagher supports live concert production, branded experiences, placemaking, and film and television staging. The acquisition broadens TAIT’s geographic footprint and complements its live experience portfolio with fabrication, automation, and structural capabilities.

What it signals: Live event capability is evolving beyond event planning: it now includes technical fabrication, automation, and content delivery infrastructure. TAIT’s move reflects the growing market demand for integrated staging, scenic, and hardware‑driven experiences.

Brandnation becomes employee‑owned via EOT

Article content

Brandnation, a 30‑person marketing and communications agency serving clients such as the UIM E1 World Championship and Columbia Sportswear, has transitioned 75 per cent of its equity into an Employee Ownership Trust. Founder Mary Killingworth retains a 25 per cent stake with executive colleagues.

What it signals: For small and values‑driven agencies, EOTs are becoming the preferred succession path, preserving culture, aligning incentives, and enabling sustainable growth.

RPM transitions to Employee Ownership Trust

Since 1993, RPM, a B‑Corp‑certified brand‑experience agency, has operated independently. Founder Hugh Robertson has now stepped into a non‑executive role as the majority of equity transfers to an EOT. The leadership team remains intact.

What it signals: EOTs are gaining traction as a structural choice for agencies committed to sustainability, creative integrity, and team ownership.

Key Takeaways for the Industry

1. Content production at speed is now a strategic asset. The acquisitions by M3 Labs reflect a built‑for‑scale approach, AI‑enabled production, global creator networks, and commerce integration, creating a modern engine of content velocity.

2. Merged agencies offer seamless, consultative experiences. The MCI UK and Pure Communications merger demonstrates demand for integrated delivery models spanning insight, strategy, events, and communications in regulated sectors.

3. Live event production is becoming vertically integrated. TAIT’s acquisition of Gallagher signals that staging, automation, and fabrication are core competencies, not just logistical enablers. Live experience providers must build infrastructure, not outsource it.

4. Employee ownership is now the default model for agency values and continuity. Both Brandnation and RPM show that EOTs are becoming mainstream for creative and purpose‑driven agencies, embedding shared ownership and long‑term cultural alignment.

5. Ecosystems beat portfolios. From Wooshii’s global network to Gallagher’s fabrication capacity and EOT‑owned team culture, today’s strategy is about building integrated ecosystems across tech, talent, and infrastructure.

6. Speed, scale, and shared ownership now define agency value. Acquisitions provide operational scale; EOTs deliver alignment and authenticity. Together, these trends align agencies with client demands for agility, integrity, and integrated delivery.

Across content production, live experience, and business structure, the industry is consolidating around speed, integration, and shared purpose. Whether through mergers or ownership transformation, agency evolution is about scale with soul.
